Using the Stockpile: Days 12/13, Pasta Bake

Saturday, January 12th was a very busy day.  I had to work, then had a holiday party with my husband's work (catered, yum!) and then had a birthday party for a friend, so no cooking took place.  Therefore, here's a combined summary of the weekend of January 12-13th. :)

As to not increase the food budget this month, I've been sticking to milk for my morning coffee.  It's not as creamy as half and half, but I will manage!  The freezer in the fridge is already looking better.  We've been working on frozen fruits and vegetables a lot, but I still like fresh stuff and yogurt (which I stocked up on the first week on clearance).  I'm trying to limit those purchases still.  I'm still making our own bread, even though the bread maker keeps acting up.  The last batch mixed, then the motor seized, so I let it rise and baked it normally.  

Sunday, I took some frozen pasta sauce that I had made this summer from fresh garden tomatoes and herbs, a box of rotini, some mozzarella, fresh Parmesan and a 1 lb package of Farmland pork sausage and baked it.  Jon LOVED it.  I sometimes make things thinking "this will be interesting" and then when they turn out good, he goes crazy! 

Total spent on food outside of stockpile:
Today:  $6 (2 gallons of milk for $6 at Kum & Go)
This Month:  $37.77
Goal:  Spend under $100 for January, but under $50 would be awesome!  I think I'm going to be past the $50 limit, but we'll see if I can do this anyways.  Maybe $75. :)
Stockpile items demolished:  2 boxes of Kraft Mac & Cheese, 1 jar of Patak's Sauce, 1 bag of granola, 1 bag of protein powder, 1 rogue squash, 1 package of chicken breast, 1 package of Hormel deli pepperoni, 1 tube of crescent rolls, 2 packages of bacon, 1 bag of shredded cheese, 2 packages of Knorr rice sides, 1 big jar of Jif peanut butter, 1 jar of honey, 1 bag of flour, 1 box of crackers, 2 boxes of granola/snack bar, 2 freezer steaks, 1 bag of Gevalia coffee, 4 gallons of milk, 1 jar of Jif hazelnut spread, 2 boxes of cereal, 1 whole freezer chicken, 4 misc. beers, 1 box oatmeal, 1 jar almond butter, 1 can of green beans, 1 bag frozen peas, 1 jar of canned fruit, 1 remaining package of spanakopita, 1 remaining package of mozzarella sticks, 1 remaining package of jalapeno poppers, 1 remainder of a bag of french fries, 1 dozen eggs, 1 package frozen broccoli, 1 frozen Farmland pork sausage, 2 freezer bags of homemade pasta sauce
