Crock Pot Whole Chicken with Beer and Potatoes

Crock Pot Beer Chicken

I've wanted to try this for a while!  I bought whole chickens for 79¢/lb at Hy-Vee a couple of weeks ago and put them in the freezer.  I used "random fridge beer", or in this case "random leftover wedding beer" for the sauce.  Mustard powder, black pepper, salt, herb chicken and Italian seasoning, potatoes, onion and a little olive oil!

Chop your potatoes and onion and coat with some of the mixed seasonings listed above, then 1 tbsp of olive oil.  Toss to coat.
Put seasoning on your washed and dried chicken and lay the chicken on top.  Pour beer around the chicken, not on it.

Cozy chicken!
Let it cook on high for 4-5 hours.
It's falling apart in front of my eyes!  You can broil it to brown it, but I was hungry and didn't want to wait, so I took back the skin and just ate!  This was my first attempt at beer chicken and crock potting a whole chicken and I think it came out fantastic.  I will definitely play with chickens in the crock pot more often.

Would be nice with a side salad or broccoli. Pin It
