SodaStream Machine Review

SodaStream Review:
SodaStream was kind enough to send us their products to give it a try and let you all know what my family thought.  With all the "buzz" around SodaStream I personally thought its to good to be true. making soda out of regular water in your own home how unreal is that, its unheard of, until SodaStream became a household name!

Contents inside the box:
plastic soda bottle,
lid for plastic soda bottle,
co2 carbonator (what makes the fizz)
6pc sample pack variety of flavors,
instructions/user manual

Shipping box

other flavors of soda I received
Cola (comparable to Coke)
cranberry raspberry
Cola Zero (comparable to coke zero)
Diet Pink Grapefruit
Diet Lemon Lime (comparable to diet sprite)
Natural Pineapple
Natural Ginger Ale
3pk Variety My Water

So to get started was pretty simple.. I opened up the box pulled the machine out, got the carbonator out. thought hmm where is the plug in, - what no plugin,  where is the battery compartment, -what no batteries either, WOW! I was amazed.  How does it work, everything now days has to be plugged in or have batteries to run on.. Not the Eco-friendly SodaStream Machine!
(open up the back compartment insert the carbonator, put cover back on)

fill the supplied bottle with regular tap, bottled, ours from the fridge water.
it easily screws on to the SodaStream Machine

on the top of the machine is a button, this is how you get the carbon into the water (what creates the fizz and not flat taste)  the average is 3 presses.  you can hear the carbon being released into the bottle, and it will make a loud buzzing sound when the one press has been completed properly
(the kids say it sounds like it farted)
However on the bottles of flavor some do include a recommended carbon amount, such as cola says 5 buzzes meaning 5 full presses of the button releasing carbon into the bottle.  the more carbon the more fizz, bubbles ect.

Joshua taking his turn pressing the button to give the water its carbon.

Sky Leigh's Turn pushing the button.

you can see in this picture the carbon being released into the water it starts to make bubbles and fizz like a regular can of pop.

this is the 6pk sample pack that was included in the box, the kids choose to try orange out first.

once you have pressed the button the allowed times 3 on average unless the bottle of flavor says otherwise you press the release button to release the bottle from its spot untwisting it.

this is the bottle of water after carbonation was added. you can see the fizz and bubbles you expect to see in regular soda.

tilt the bottle slightly (or it will over fizz itself spilling all over)
adding the flavor syrup

adding the rests of the flavor

pour and serve!
once the flavor is added reseal the bottle with the provided lid and turn/twist (do not shake) but stirr the syrup with in the bottle.

Pouring our first cup of Orange Soda made with our SodaStream Machine
notice the fizz/bubbles you would see from store bought soda! -Amazing

oh so yummy!
if you have left over soda in the bottle you can always put it in the fridge

we then went on to the cola flavor, the lid to the flavor is also the measuring cup for the about of syrup you need per bottle.

this is what i mean by twist/turn (do not shake) the mix the ingredients with in the bottle.

To me there is a high start up cost, as there is to anything, but if your willing to fork out $100 to start in the long run it is well worth it.
.25cents per can of soda, .25cents per liter of sparkling water, no more wasted flat soda, no more bottle deposits (.5cents in iowa per can/bottle).

Regular sodamix flavors contain less sugar, calories, carbohydrates and sodium than national drink brands, and they contain no high-fructose corn syrup. Each bottle of concentrated sodamix makes the equivalent of 12 liters (33 cans) of soda!
1 carbonator makes 60 liters and cost $40 (alone) $20 (for exchange) and 1 is included in the kit itself, (saving you $20 to start)

note not all locations except exchanges for the CO2.
