Eating healthy for cheap!

So, the other day I wanted to make a salad. Not just any salad, a monstrous salad. I went to the store to get some items (a store that is not the cheapest by any means, but close to home), and grabbed veggies. I realized I needed creamer too, and the only one I had a coupon for was on sale (yay, I love when that happens!), so I grabbed one of those.




Total cost for all items pictured was $10.79 ($2.22-$0.55 coupon for the creamer, 0.91 for the bananas, so $8.21 for the veggies). I figured 4 huge salads would happen from this bunch. I do mean huge. Red cabbage is a great addition to any salad as it adds crunch without affecting the taste all that much. To my salad, I added croutons ($0.99 cents for a bag of 32 servings), shredded 1 small carrot, added 2 tbs of Tuscan House Italian ($2 for the bottle on sale, 16 servings), and a 1/8th cup (1/2 serving) of Kraft Italian shredded cheese and tossed it all together. For around 300 calories and $2 a serving (because you know you won't use that whole red onion in 4 monster salads, cost of $0.63), I think this was a great deal! Plus, not everyone eats monster salads.. you might want to stick to a mini monster and halve the recipe, making what is pictured above last twice as much hehe...
